Biography[]

Andrew Polec was born in Philadelphia. After graduating from a master's program at Brown University in 2015, he moved to New York City and auditioned for the workshop of the Bat Out of Hell musical.

He recently played Matt in The Fantasticks (off-Broadway), John Andre in The General from America (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival), Troilus in Troilus and Cressida (Bread Loaf Acting Ensemble), Young Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and Peter in Ivanov (Trinity Repertory Company), and Max in Where the Wild Things Are (Providence Fringe Festival). Other productions include: The Tooth of Crime, Pericles, Twelfth Night, In the Blood, The Hunchback of Seville, Melena, and Es Mentira.

Albums include Ben Fold’s Presents: University A Capella and Welcome to Khat House. Veteran MTV watchers might recognize him from a featured role in SuperMade. He has played Jimmy Dodger on CW's Katy Keene.

Andrew holds an MFA from the Brown University/Trinity Repertory program and a BA in English and Music from the University of Rochester in association with the Eastman School of Music.

On 17th September 2017, Andrew won the "Joe Allen Best West End Debut Award" for his role as Strat in Bat Out Of Hell, at The Stage Debut Awards. [1]

Andrew was first involved with Bat Out Of Hell the Musical when he auditioned for the 2015 NYC Workshop of the show. He originally auditioned for the role of Jagwire, but was asked to return to read for the role of the lead, Strat, and was subsequently cast.

In late 2016 he was invited to join the original cast of the show, which would be opening in 2017 in Manchester, before moving on to a run in London and Toronto. He continued in the role of Strat for the 2018 London Dominion run of the show, but left at the start of September 2018, to lead the US Tour of the show, which was cancelled shortly before the end of the first date. He returned to the role for the 2019 New York run of the show, and was scheduled to lead the Australian Arena Tour in 2020, before it was postponed.

He also took part in the 50th Anniversary of The Dream Engine at Amherst College, as the lead, Baal.
